New Toy: Canon 135L

Gave in to temptation last week and got the Canon 135mm f/2L lens. Considered to be one of Canon’s finest lenses and the sharpest of the L primes. So what do I do to test it out? Take blurry pictures of the sunset through reflections on windows and the car of course!

Mini story time: when I went out to take the above pictures, my neighbors were outside playing with their kids. After seeing me come out to take pictures, they got curious and probably wondered what the hell was going on that was so interesting. After I went back inside, I saw them walk out and look at the sunset, then take out their phones and take pictures as well. Haha, photography bringing people together.

Later in the day I decided to test it on more appropriate subjects to check sharpness:

Canon 135L
Friend’s dog, Uni, shot on Canon 5D Mark III at f/2, 1/50 sec, and ISO 25,600.
Tiger the meatbag Canon 135L
The four legged meatbag known as TIger, shot on Canon 5D Mark III at f/2, 1/320 sec., and ISO 200.

Pretty damn sharp lens if you ask me. Happy with it so far, but the real test will be when I can find a human subject under controlled lighting. Hopefully, I can setup a shoot soon. Stay tuned.

Till next time…
